Free Concert on Friday to Celebrate McGinn for Mayor

A concert to support Michael McGinn for Mayor will take place on World Environment Day, Friday, June 5, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Gas Works Park.

David Montgomery, a MacArthur “Genius” Fellow, will play a set with his band “Big Dirt.” The Seattle band “Proud Wonderful Me” will also perform. This event is free and open to the public; everyone is welcome.

David Montgomery is both a musician and geomorphologist. He was awarded the MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship in 2008. He published King of Fish: The Thousand Year Run of Salmon in 2003, and Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations in 2007.

Immediately after Michael McGinn announced his candidacy, David Montgomery contacted the McGinn campaign and offered to perform with his band “Big Dirt” in support of the campaign.

The event at Gas Works Park on World Environment Day will be a fun, relaxed celebration that focuses on Michael McGinn’s support for the arts and the environment. Bring friends and family, a picnic dinner, lawn chairs, etc. Rain or shine!
