McGinn Wins Most Endorsement Votes at 43rd District Democrats Meeting

On Tuesday night, Michael McGinn won the most votes of any mayoral candidate at the 43rd District Democrats endorsements meeting.

“Once more, Seattle’s voters have said I am the progressive candidate of change,” Michael said.

Michael’s powerful showing comes after last week’s endorsements of him by the 37th District Democrats and the Sierra Club.

At the 43rd District, Michael was named on 38% of the ballots, compared with Nickels 28%, Mallahan 27%, Drago 11%, Donaldson 6%, and Sigler 3%.

Although I try to not be a one issue voter, I support Michael with the hope that he can change the decision on the Big Dig to replace the viaduct. I know it seems too late, but Michael can turn this around. Rapid transit should be on rubber tires that already spread out across the city. I would hope those voters who do not take the bus and vote for a tunnel would get over the prejudice that buses are for the lower class while the rest of us should be able to drive. During this time when we are trying to find ways to control pollution is not the time to build more highways. Seattle is not only a technologically sophisticated city that can design a good bus system, but also a physically active city where people get out an walk, run, ride bikes. Seattle ought to distinguish itself as going against the trend to say in cars.
