Mike McGinn Files to Run for Mayor of Seattle

Commenting on his choice to join the race, Michael made these remarks, “This race is about a real choice for Seattle’s future. After meeting so many neighbors–both in person and online (Twitter, FaceBook, We Like Mike) — it is clear to me that Seattle residents believe in providing opportunity for everyone, economic innovation and environmental excellence. During these tough times, we have to ask ourselves will we continue to pour money into outdated solutions that yoke us to a fading past or should we invest our civic resources wisely to invest in what Seattle voters really care about: good schools, strong communities, great local transit and smart economic development? From where I stand it is clear that we need to start building the Seattle we believe in.”

Michael is a dedicated civic leader with extensive experience bringing people together around common goals in business, government and non-profits. As a neighborhood leader and community advocate, he has spent his time standing up for
Seattle’s values
even when others forgot them.

To celebrate both World Environment Day and Michael’s official entry into the race, the McGinn for Mayor campaign invites everyone to Gas Works Park for a free concert this Friday evening. Featuring MacArthur Genius Award winner and Michael McGinn supporter David Montgomery and his band “Big Dirt”, this will be a great place to learn more about the campaign, talk with Michael, and meet some of the great volunteers and activists who have already signed on to help the McGinn for Mayor campaign win this election.
